Education Partner Database and Outreach Playbook for High School and Higher Ed
Scope of work includes the following:
1. Research K-12 schools, charter networks, and after-school programs in Boston, NYC, LA, San Diego with film, media, or arts focus
2. Research colleges and universities with film, media studies, communications, or social justice programs
3. Identify youth-serving nonprofits aligned with our mission of underrepresented storytelling
4. Build database with contact info, partnership fit notes, tier ranking
5. Draft 3 outreach templates (school administrators, college faculty, nonprofit program directors)
6. Document a 90-day outreach sequence
The ideal volunteer has experience in education partnerships, school engagement, university outreach, or youth program development, and cares about expanding access to film and storytelling for young people. This project should take 25 to 35 hours to complete. We are hopeful that our volunteer partner will share 2 to 5 hours of their time per week.
Every school this volunteer adds to our database is a potential home for a Global Lens screening, a Write Yourself In workshop cohort, an Open Hours mentorship session, or a Mission Ineffable internship placement. This work directly serves teen filmmakers in San Diego who have never seen their work on a screen, first generation college students in Boston, students in NYC public schools who have never met a working filmmaker, and CSUSM students in our internship pipeline.
A young person who learns they are allowed to tell their own story does not unlearn it. They tell it in a classroom, then a festival, then a feature, then to their own kids someday. Your work on this project plants those seeds across hundreds of campuses.
The volunteer will work directly with our Founder and CEO and our Programs lead, with weekly 30-minute check-ins. Our Outreach lead will provide context on existing relationships and contacts.
Once complete, the database becomes the foundation for expanding Write Yourself In, Open Hours, and our internship program into more schools and universities, directly increasing the number of young people who get to participate in our programs each year.
