We are looking for a skilled volunteer to help us explore and model a potential new revenue stream that aligns with our mission. This could include developing a fee-for-service model, launching a social enterprise, client-run enterprise, or monetizing an existing program or service. The goal is to assess financial viability of this option and forecast its potential revenue over the next 1-3 years.

At the end of this engagement, we would like to develop a planning brief that details:

-Our ideal consumer base
-Initial investment and/or start-up costs
-Running costs for administering the new venture
-Pricing options
-Estimate of our break-even point (how much revenue we need to earn to cover start-up costs and costs of administration

The first stage of this project will involve brainstorming and presenting options based on similar models used by peer organizations. Following the presentation of these ideas, you'll come up with a more in-depth evaluation and potential plan for implementation.
At Investing in the Success of Foster Youth Texas, we are on a mission to ensure that young people with lived experience in foster care don’t just access higher education—but graduate, build careers, and thrive long-term. Our students are ambitious and resilient, yet many are navigating adulthood without the financial safety nets and support systems most young adults rely on. Through scholarships, mentorship, and leadership development, we are changing life trajectories every day. To sustain and scale this impact, we must build a stronger, more diversified financial foundation.

This is where your expertise comes in. With the support of skilled volunteers, we aim to develop a strategic revenue model and diversification plan that will:
Reduce reliance on a limited number of funding sources
Identify and structure new revenue streams (corporate partnerships, individual giving, events, grants, and innovative funding models)
Strengthen long-term financial sustainability and scalability
Equip our leadership team with clear, data-informed decision-making tools

Your work will directly influence how many students we can serve—not just this year, but for years to come.
Imagine helping design a funding strategy that allows us to grow from serving dozens of students to reaching hundreds across Texas. Imagine creating a model that ensures every qualified student who applies has access to scholarship support, mentorship, and our life-changing Leadership Retreat. Imagine knowing that your financial strategy helped a first-generation college student persist through graduation because the resources were there when they needed them most.

This project is more than financial modeling—it’s about building a sustainable engine of opportunity. By contributing your time and expertise, you are helping create a future where foster youth are not defined by their circumstances, but empowered by access, support, and possibility.
To set this project up for success, we will provide access to relevant program data, current funding sources, and any preliminary ideas or research we've conducted. We will also ensure that key team members are available to provide context and feedback throughout the process.

To prepare for this project, we've done some initial brainstorming of potential service offerings that could generate revenue while advancing our mission and outlined our current cost structure and capacity.
