We are looking for a volunteer to develop a prototype system to send text, audio, and/or calls via WhatsApp (or find an existing service offering and setting it up for our organization). This project will include setting success metrics and testing the extent to which WhatsApp channels improve message delivery and recall.

Notify Health protects children in Nigeria from preventable illness and death by delivering automated voice and text immunisation reminders to their caregivers. At scale, deploying immunisation reminders through WhatsApp could enable us to reach tens of thousands more children each year.

We will introduce the volunteer to our existing mass messaging system setup, including message content and schedules. We will collaborate with the volunteer to create a project plan and timeline. The scope is flexible and can be adapted depending on your interests, availability, and skillset. We will hold regular check-ins to discuss progress and solve problems collaboratively. If the prototype successfully and cost-effectively improves message delivery, we will pursue scaling the WhatsApp messaging system across our program.
