We are seeking support to develop a practical strategy for insurance coverage of FACE’s one-on-one Conductive Education sessions. Our organization serves children, youth, and adults with neuromotor conditions through specialized programming that is highly individualized, resource-intensive, and delivered by trained Conductors. While these sessions are extremely valuable for participants and their families, they are not currently recognized by North American insurers in a way that allows for coverage or reimbursement.

The project would focus on helping us identify how these sessions might be positioned, documented, and supported so that they could be considered for insurance coverage. We are especially interested in understanding what insurers typically look for in terms of service definition, outcomes, credentialing, and medical necessity. A volunteer could help us review our current service model, identify comparable services or payer categories, and develop a clearer framework for how our one-on-one sessions might be described to insurers.

Specific tasks could include:
- Reviewing and refining how we describe one-on-one Conductive Education for payer audiences.
- Identifying possible insurance, reimbursement, or benefit pathways that might apply.
- Helping us outline what evidence or documentation would strengthen a coverage request.
- Drafting a short payer-facing brief that explains the value of the service and why it is uniquely suited to people with neuromotor conditions.
- Advising on next steps for a broader payer or reimbursement strategy.

Because our management team is almost entirely volunteer-led, we do not have the internal capacity or expertise to complete this work ourselves. A volunteer with business planning, healthcare reimbursement, nonprofit strategy, or communications experience would be especially helpful. Since the time commitment is limited, we would hope to focus on a few high-value deliverables that would help us move this project forward in a realistic and actionable way.
This project will help FACE strengthen a critical pathway toward long-term sustainability by exploring how our one-on-one Conductive Education sessions might become eligible for insurance coverage. For our organization, that means more than just funding — it means creating a more reliable way to keep specialized supports available for children, youth, and adults with neuromotor conditions who depend on us. By helping us build a clearer payer strategy and stronger evidence-based case, a volunteer will be contributing directly to the future stability of a service that is unique in Calgary and essential to the families we support.

The impact of this work is deeply personal and far-reaching. FACE is the only provider in Calgary offering this specialized level of support to a very vulnerable community, and many of the people we serve have few, if any, alternatives that are truly designed for their needs. Conductive Education helps participants build independence, improve mobility, strengthen daily living skills, and experience belonging in a community that understands them. A volunteer’s contribution will help us protect and expand that impact by making our services more accessible and more financially sustainable.

This is an opportunity to help an organization that is already taking concrete steps to grow. Through our FACE Forward initiative, we have raised approximately $150,000 to expand capacity, grow outreach, and strengthen our future. A volunteer partner will be helping us take the next strategic step: turning that growth into a stronger, more resilient model that can continue serving families for years to come. Their work will support real people, real families, and a program that makes a meaningful difference every day.
We have done a significant amount of preparation for this work and are ready to make strong use of a volunteer partner’s time. Our organization has already built internal buy-in around this project, and our team understands that improving access to insurance coverage for our one-on-one Conductive Education sessions is an important step toward long-term sustainability. We have also gathered background materials about our programs, participant needs, and the way our services differ from traditional therapies, so we can move quickly into focused, productive work.

In addition, we have recently raised approximately **$150,000** through our **FACE Forward** initiative, which is helping us grow our capacity, expand outreach, and strengthen our overall operations. That work is part of a broader effort to improve our financial sustainability so that we can continue serving families well into the future. Because our programs are resource-intensive and our participant population has complex needs, identifying new revenue pathways is especially important for us.

FACE is also the **only provider of supports for this vulnerable community in Calgary**, which makes the success of this project especially critical. There is no comparable organization in our city offering the same specialized Conductive Education model, so when we strengthen FACE, we are directly strengthening access for the people who depend on us most. That is why we are committed to applying the outcomes of this project right away.

We plan to implement the volunteer’s work by using it to guide our next steps with insurers, documentation, and service positioning. Any payer strategy, evidence brief, or recommendations developed through this project will be reviewed by our leadership team and used to support our broader sustainability planning. In other words, this will not be an academic exercise — we are looking for practical, actionable results that we can put to work quickly.
