Accounting Systems Set Up

We are seeking a skilled CPA or nonprofit financial professional to support audit readiness and a restructuring of our chart of accounts (COA) to align with federal funding requirements, multi-source revenue tracking, and organizational growth.

By strengthening our chart of accounts and preparing for audit readiness, this project will:

- Ensure compliance and stewardship of public and philanthropic funds
- Improve our ability to track and report outcomes by program and funding source
- Support sustainable growth and replication of our model
- Increase credibility with funders and partners, positioning us for larger investments

Ultimately, this work builds the operational backbone required to scale impact—allowing us to serve more young people with high-quality, accountable, and sustainable programming.

We will set this project up for success by ensuring strong internal alignment, clear documentation, and consistent engagement throughout the engagement.

1. Clear scope + defined outcomes upfront
We have identified specific priorities, such as chart of accounts redesign and audit readiness, and will align with the volunteer in the first meeting to confirm deliverables, timeline, and success criteria.

2. Organized financial documentation
We will provide timely access to all relevant materials, including our current chart of accounts, financial statements, grant agreements, budgets, and any existing policies/procedures to allow for an efficient and informed review.

3. Dedicated internal point of contact
A single lead, Lauren will coordinate all communication and ensure timely responses to questions to avoid delays.

4. Leadership engagement
Our executive leadership and key staff will be available for working sessions and decision-making to ensure recommendations are practical and adopted quickly.

5. Openness to change + implementation focus
We are approaching this engagement ready to implement recommendations - not just receive guidance. Our goal is to leave the project with a finalized COA structure and a clear, actionable audit readiness plan.

6. Commitment to timelines
We will prioritize this work internally to meet agreed-upon milestones and respect the pro bono team’s time and contributions.
