Our organization is seeking a skilled volunteer web designer to integrate a handful of specific platforms into the existing design structure. In addition to creating those specific design files (for implementation by a separate web developer volunteer), the volunteer will train designated staff on how to make updates, add content, and modify design elements independently once the project is complete.

The platforms that this web designer will be integrating into specific page designs: Elementor for WordPress, Constant Contact, Square, Network for Good, and Eventbrite.

This role will include signing a volunteer agreement outlining project scope, timelines, and responsibilities.

Out of scope activities:
-Web development (i.e. implementing web designs)
-Messaging
-Brand style guide development
-Website architecture
Harlem Needle Arts is dedicated to preserving, amplifying, and innovating the fiber, textile, and needle arts traditions of the African Diaspora. Our website is central to this mission—it is where we share exhibitions, document public art, highlight artists, announce programs, and connect with audiences locally and globally.

During the COVID-19 crisis and now with the termination of our NEA grants, HNA has been pivoting our operations to respond to urgent community needs, which meant delaying important infrastructure work such as maintaining our website. Even now, we are still recovering lost time and capacity as we strive to advance our day-to-day mission. Relaunching our site will allow us to restore our digital presence, expand opportunities for artists, and reconnect with the thousands who look to HNA for culture, connection, and creativity.

Our creative work around reaching audiences include Constant Contact-CRM; Instagram/Facebook post and ads; Eventbrite public launches and landing pages.

By having a Taproot volunteer with expertise, it will directly help us bridge the gap between recovery and growth, making it possible for Harlem Needle Arts to re-emerge online stronger than ever.
Our board has mandated that the new website be completed and live this spring. As Executive Director and sole employee, I have cleared the next 6 weeks to focus on this project and ensure the site’s design flow and content are ready. Each Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. is reserved for site work, and I am happy to adapt to the Taproot volunteer’s schedule if another time works better.

I bring working knowledge of WordPress, having managed our original site, and the Elementor platform makes the process collaborative and user-friendly.
