Our goal for this Taproot Project is to create a practical, implementation-ready staff and volunteer retention strategy that helps Striving For All strengthen engagement, satisfaction, and long-term commitment.

The volunteer will help us:

Assess our current staff and volunteer experience, including onboarding, communication, and engagement practices
Identify key challenges and opportunities related to retention, motivation, and satisfaction
Define clear retention drivers for both staff and volunteers (e.g., recognition, growth opportunities, communication, culture)
Recommend strategies to improve engagement, recognition, and ongoing involvement
Develop simple tools such as feedback loops, check-in structures, or recognition frameworks
Create a prioritized action plan with clear, realistic steps for implementation

The final deliverable will be a concise retention strategy (8–12 pages or equivalent) with actionable recommendations that our team can implement immediately.

We will provide background information, existing processes, and team insights to ensure the recommendations are practical and tailored to our organization.
Through working with our organization on this project, the volunteer will support our mission by helping us build a stronger, more engaged, and more sustainable team.

Improving staff and volunteer retention will enable us to:

Maintain continuity and quality in our education and healthcare programs
Strengthen relationships with the communities we serve through consistent support and engagement
Reduce time spent on recruiting and onboarding, allowing us to focus more on program delivery and impact
Create a more positive and supportive environment that attracts and retains mission-driven individuals

The volunteer’s contributions will directly strengthen our internal capacity, enabling us to serve more children and families effectively and sustainably over time.
We have prepared for this project by ensuring we can provide the context, access, and collaboration needed for success.

We will share current onboarding materials, communication practices, and engagement approaches for both staff and volunteers
We will provide insights and informal feedback on current retention challenges and opportunities
A dedicated team member will partner closely with the volunteer throughout the project
We will hold weekly check-ins to provide feedback, answer questions, and ensure steady progress
Leadership will be available for input and alignment, so recommendations are realistic and actionable

We are committed to implementing the final recommendations to improve retention and strengthen our team over time.
