KR Scholars is seeking a skilled volunteer team to support a full website redesign on Squarespace. As a growing nonprofit focused on expanding college access, financial education, and workforce readiness for students connected to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), our website is a critical tool for communicating our mission and engaging key audiences.

Our current site contains strong content and impact, but it lacks the structure, visual hierarchy, and user experience needed to fully reflect our growth and effectively guide users. We are looking to create a modern, clean, and mobile-friendly website that clearly tells our story, simplifies navigation, and drives action.

The redesigned site should consolidate our content into a streamlined structure of approximately 5–7 main pages, with clear pathways for students, donors, and partners. Key pages will include Home, About, Programs, Scholarships, Get Involved, and Impact/Stories. The goal is to balance compelling storytelling with simplicity and ease of use.
Scope includes reviewing our current site, recommending an improved sitemap and layout, designing and building the new site in Squarespace, and migrating existing content such as program descriptions, images, and key resources. We are also looking for guidance on best practices for user experience, calls-to-action, and basic SEO setup.
KR Scholars will provide a brand style guide, content, images, and examples of websites we admire, along with a dedicated point of contact to ensure timely feedback and collaboration.

This project will play a key role in helping us reach more students, increase access to scholarships and programs, and strengthen engagement with donors and partners as we continue to grow our impact.
This project will play a critical role in advancing KR Scholars’ mission to expand college access, financial education, and workforce readiness for students connected to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Our website is often the first touchpoint for students, families, donors, and partners. A redesigned, user-friendly site will make it easier for students to discover and access scholarships, college readiness programs, and career development opportunities that can truly change their trajectory.

For donors and partners, the site will more clearly showcase our impact—helping drive increased support that directly funds scholarships, HBCU Starter Kits, and programming for students from under-resourced communities.
By improving how we tell our story and connect with our audiences, this project will help us reach more students, deepen our impact, and continue building a strong pipeline from high school to college and into meaningful careers.
Volunteers on this project will play a direct role in helping students access life-changing opportunities and supporting the growth of a mission-driven organization committed to long-term student success.
KR Scholars is well-prepared to ensure the success of this project. We have strong internal alignment on the goals of the website redesign and a clear vision for the structure, user experience, and outcomes we hope to achieve.
We have already gathered key materials, including our brand style guide, updated program descriptions, impact data, and a robust library of photos and videos. Our current website (www.krscholars.com) will be provided as a reference, along with examples of websites we admire to help guide design direction.

Our team will designate a dedicated point of contact to manage communication, provide timely feedback, and support decision-making throughout the project. We are committed to being responsive, collaborative, and respectful of the volunteer team’s time.
We also have a clear plan for implementation. Once the website is complete, our team will take ownership of maintaining and updating the site, using it to drive engagement with students, donors, and partners.

Overall, we are organized, prepared, and excited to partner with a volunteer team to bring this project to life and maximize its long-term impact.
