MFCF is seeking a skilled graphic design volunteer to help us create a polished, visually compelling digital annual impact report that we can share with donors, partners, and community stakeholders. We envision a report of approximately 10 to 12 pages that clearly communicates who we are, what we accomplished, and where we are headed next.

We are looking for support translating our written content, data, photos, and stories into a professional layout that feels credible, inspiring, and easy to digest. The final deliverable should include a designed PDF for distribution and an editable working file that our team can update in the future.

We anticipate a 4 to 5 week engagement with a volunteer partner, totaling approximately 15 to 30 hours. We expect the project to include an initial kickoff and creative direction session, development of a preliminary design concept, one or more rounds of feedback, and final file delivery. We are especially interested in a volunteer with experience designing annual reports, donor-facing collateral, or multi-page impact publications who can help us shape a report that feels both strategic and accessible.

This project is timely for MFCF because we are growing our donor engagement and communications efforts in 2026, including community events, donor roundtables, and stakeholder-facing opportunities where a strong impact report will be an important tool for relationship-building and fundraising. MFCF’s 2026 calendar includes major touchpoints such as the Donors and Doers Summit and the Annual Meeting & Community Awards, making this report especially valuable this year.
Our ideal volunteer has experience designing brochures or reports and will be prepared to show us their portfolio of design examples. We hope you can spend 15-30 hours over four to five weeks.
A strong impact report will help MFCF better communicate the value of our work and deepen trust with the funders, partners, and community members who make that work possible. As a Black-led and founded intermediary, MFCF exists to improve lives through capital infusions, support for existing social infrastructure, and holistic wellness. This report will give us a clearer, more compelling way to show how that mission comes to life through our programming, grantmaking, partnerships, and ecosystem-building efforts.

This is especially important because MFCF’s work is designed to strengthen the broader social safety net, not just deliver isolated services. Our initiatives support community infrastructure, leadership development, technical assistance, and spaces like Aya House that help mission-driven leaders operate more sustainably. Our existing program materials reflect that ecosystem approach, including support for nonprofit capacity, mentorship, storytelling, technology integration, and community-based programming.

With a professionally designed impact report, we will be better equipped to secure support, retain partners, and tell a fuller story about the communities and leaders we serve. The volunteer’s work will help us move beyond fragmented updates and present a cohesive narrative of impact, one that can strengthen donor confidence, support future fundraising, and help more people understand why investing in MFCF matters.
We are prepared to be a thoughtful, organized pro bono partner. Our team will take responsibility for developing the report copy, gathering and cleaning core data points, selecting photos, and identifying stories and quotes to feature. We will also provide our logo, existing branding materials, and examples of reports we admire so the volunteer has a clear creative starting point.

Internally, we have the leadership buy-in and decision-making structure needed to move this project efficiently. MFCF has an established board and committee structure, including communications, fundraising, and finance leadership, which allows us to gather input and approve content in a timely way.

We also have a 2026 operating budget and program framework in place, which means the report can be grounded in real organizational plans, revenue strategy, and programmatic priorities rather than aspirational ideas alone. Our current 2026 budget projects $258,000 in revenue, with substantial investment in program activity, including community engagement, grantmaking, and Aya House programming.

We will designate one primary point of contact to coordinate communication, consolidate feedback, and keep the project on track. We are committed to coming to meetings prepared, honoring the volunteer’s time, and making decisions promptly so the engagement stays focused and productive. Once completed, the report will be actively used in donor cultivation, grantmaking conversations, stakeholder outreach, and event follow-up throughout the year.
