Guide and support our staff-level audit process by advising on timelines and deliverables, creating a documentation checklist and audit-ready schedules, coaching finance staff on interactions with external auditors, and helping ensure deliverables and deadlines are met. This resource will act as mentor, advisor, coordinator and, when needed, “do-er.” It is most important that this person have the ability to coordinate; keep people on-point and accountable to their deadlines; perform quality control; and have the knowledge to know how to prioritize audit tasks effectively.
Improved audit readiness and financial controls will increase transparency and compliance, strengthen funder and community trust, and enable staff to focus more resources on programs that advance economic self-sufficiency, family stability, and neighborhood vitality in Central Brooklyn.
The volunteer will collaborate with our finance team to set milestones, review existing materials, and transfer knowledge. We will be available for regular check-ins and to provide context so recommendations can be implemented.
