Develop a 90-Day Social Media Plan for a Nonprofit Improving Cancer Care
Specifically, we hope to work with a volunteer to:
• Develop a clear social media strategy aligned with our mission and audience
• Identify key messaging themes that resonate with oncology providers and healthcare leaders
• Create a 90-day content calendar
• Draft social media posts and messaging for that period
• Provide guidance on best practices for engagement and visibility
• Recommend simple systems or tools we can use to sustain posting after the project ends
Our primary platforms are LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, though LinkedIn is likely our most important audience channel.
The volunteer would not need to manage the accounts directly; rather, they would help us build the strategy and create the initial content we can implement ourselves.
After Cancer works to close this gap by equipping oncology providers and care teams with the knowledge, language, and resources they need to address sexual health with patients. We develop accredited training programs, communication tools, and patient education resources that help cancer centers:
• Normalize conversations about sexual health
• Set expectations with patients early in treatment
• Connect patients with appropriate specialists and support
A stronger social media presence will help us reach more oncology providers and cancer care organizations, increase awareness of these resources, and expand the number of clinics integrating sexual health into routine cancer care.
By helping us develop a clear and sustainable social media strategy, this volunteer will play a meaningful role in improving how cancer care teams support patients' quality of life during and after treatment.
• A clear mission and defined audience (oncology providers and cancer care organizations)
• A growing library of educational content, courses, and patient materials
• Existing blog posts, videos, and educational resources that can be adapted for social media
• A website that houses our work: www.aftercancer.co
We will provide the volunteer with:
• Background information about our programs and audiences
• Existing content and messaging materials
• Examples of previous communications
• Clear feedback and timely collaboration
The Executive Director will serve as the primary project contact and will be available for regular check-ins (2–5 hours per week) to support the work and provide feedback. Our goal is to learn from the volunteer’s expertise and build a sustainable strategy we can maintain long after the project ends.
