National Service Symposium 2026: Event Planning & Coordination Support
The National Service Symposium (April 22, 2026) will convene civic, nonprofit, education, and service leaders in person, while also being broadcast nationally. We are seeking a skilled volunteer to help refine the planning structure and execution roadmap leading up to the event.
Specific tasks may include:
Developing a detailed planning timeline from now through event day
Organizing workstreams (outreach, registration, volunteers, production, run-of-show)
Creating a master checklist and task tracker
Supporting invitation and audience segmentation planning
Advising on registration flow and attendee experience
Helping structure volunteer roles and day-of coordination
Contributing to run-of-show development
The deliverable would be a clear, actionable event operations plan that ensures alignment across outreach, logistics, and execution.
We anticipate 2–5 hours per week for approximately 6–8 weeks.
The National Museum and Center for Service exists to elevate and honor service as a cornerstone of democracy. The National Service Symposium is a flagship initiative designed to:
Convene leaders across sectors
Highlight service as a unifying civic value
Expand national engagement through in-person and broadcast audiences
Strong planning and coordination are essential to delivering a professional, accessible, and impactful experience.
By helping structure the operational framework of the Symposium, the volunteer will directly contribute to strengthening a national civic initiative and expanding its reach across communities.
Specifically:
The event date (April 22, 2026) and Washington, D.C. location are confirmed.
Independent Sector will serve as a co-sponsor to help amplify national reach.
The core purpose, audience, and program direction are already defined.
Initial outreach lists and partner conversations have begun.
Leadership is aligned on priorities and prepared to implement recommendations.
I will serve as the direct project lead and primary point of contact. The volunteer will receive:
Clear documentation of goals and audiences
Existing planning materials
Defined weekly priorities
Prompt communication and decision-making
We are committed to keeping scope focused and using volunteer time effectively.
