In order to measure impact and continually improve our creative writing workshops, we survey our parents and students before and after each semester. However, those survey results currently live in two separate Airtable bases as well as in Fillout forms, and it’s difficult for our team to locate and interpret the data.

We’d like a skilled volunteer to help us reorganize and streamline our survey system in Airtable so the data is easier to access, understand, and maintain. This may include reviewing our existing bases and forms, consolidating or restructuring the data into a clearer Airtable base, and ensuring that we preserve the data visualization charts that are currently attached to some of the surveys. The goal is to create a simple, organized structure that our team can continue using going forward.
By helping us with this project, we can really understand what impact we're making on our students, and how to better serve them. We can also make the case for donors about why they should support Uptown Stories. It's a tech project with HUGE impact on our day to day operation and overall success as an organization, but we don't have the skills we need.
We understand where the materials are currently, and know what we want to ask, but we need to reorganize and build out the new surveys, with the data living in Airtable and the forms in FillOut. We're fairly tech saavy but can't do the higher level linking...

Organization Mission

At Uptown Stories, we believe that writing is an essential tool for self-expression, critical thinking, and academic success. Based in upper Manhattan, we offer small-group writing workshops for children ages eight to fifteen, led by master teachers and professional authors. To ensure our workshops are accessible to all children, tuition is pay-what-you-can. Whether your child is a struggling writer or an aspiring novelist, Uptown Stories creates an exciting, challenging, and supportive community in which your young author thrives.
