LEDC Website Redesign for 35th Anniversary Launch
We are seeking a skilled web designer/developer to design and build a new, modern, and easy-to-maintain website for LEDC, replacing our current NationBuilder site.
The volunteer will assess our goals, key audiences, content needs, and internal technical capacity, and recommend and implement an appropriate CMS and hosting solution (e.g., WordPress or a comparable low-code platform) that is sustainable for a nonprofit team with limited technical resources.
This engagement is intentionally structured to fit a 2–5 hour per week commitment over approximately six to nine weeks. The focus will be on delivering a launch-ready website using a limited number of reusable templates, streamlined navigation, and migrated existing content (copy provided by LEDC).
The work will include:
Discovery and requirements gathering through an initial interview
Recommendation and setup of the CMS and hosting environment
Design of a clean, mobile-responsive, and accessible website aligned with LEDC’s brand
Development of reusable page templates and content blocks
Migration and consolidation of approved existing content
SEO-friendly URL redirects from the legacy site
Setup of forms, basic interactive elements, search, and analytics
A staging environment and support through launch
All website copy and final content decisions will be handled internally by LEDC’s Communications and Marketing Lead and project lead. The volunteer will focus on design, technical implementation, and knowledge transfer, ensuring staff can confidently maintain the site after launch.
This project will directly support LEDC’s mission and visibility as we prepare for our 35th anniversary in July 2026, resulting in a tangible, high-impact deliverable that will be actively used and maintained.
A stronger, more intuitive website will help entrepreneurs, families, and community members better understand the resources available to them—from small business support and access to capital to housing and financial empowerment services. For many of the people we serve, our website is the first point of contact with our organization. Improving that experience means reducing barriers, building trust, and connecting individuals more quickly to the support they need.
This work is especially critical as we prepare for a major milestone: our 35th anniversary in July 2026. As of February 2026, we are entering a period of increased visibility, storytelling, and engagement leading up to this celebration. The redesigned website will serve as a foundational platform to showcase our legacy, highlight community impact, and support upcoming campaigns, partnerships, and events tied to this moment.
For volunteers, this project offers the opportunity to contribute to a tool that will have immediate and long-term impact. Your time and expertise will help ensure that thousands of community members can more easily find services, that funders and partners can clearly see the effectiveness of each dollar spent, and that our organization is positioned for its next chapter of growth and impact.
By supporting this project, volunteers will play a meaningful role in strengthening a trusted community institution at a pivotal moment—helping us honor 35 years of impact while building the infrastructure needed for the years ahead.
All website copy will be led internally by our Communications and Marketing Lead in close collaboration with me as project lead. The copy work for this project will focus primarily on transferring, refining, and organizing language that already exists on our current website, rather than developing new content from scratch. We have also compiled photos, draft language, and examples of websites we admire to help align early on around look, feel, and functionality.
From an implementation standpoint, this project has clear internal ownership and leadership buy-in. We will actively manage timelines, feedback, and decision-making to ensure momentum throughout the engagement. Our goal is to be a responsive, organized, and collaborative partner so volunteers can focus their time on delivering high-impact design and technical solutions that will be implemented immediately and sustained over time.
