Website Design
The volunteer will assess our goals, key audiences, and current technical capacity (including our GoDaddy Airo platform) and translate those inputs into clear, usable design guidance. This includes reviewing our existing website, understanding our content and branding norms, and identifying realistic design approaches that align with a volunteer-led, resource-constrained nonprofit.
The primary deliverables for this project are:
A draft site architecture and navigation structure
Design concepts or wireframes for key pages (e.g., Home, About, Programs, Get Involved, Donate)
Visual and structural guidance that can be shared with a future web developer volunteer or used internally to build the site
The project will take place over approximately six to nine weeks, with multiple working meetings. The first meeting will focus on discovery, including an interview about our desired features, audiences, and technical expertise. The volunteer will synthesize this information into a requirements briefing. Subsequent check-ins will allow for feedback as the volunteer audits our current site and develops draft site architecture, wireframes, and design concepts.
This project will help us better communicate who we serve, what we do, and why our work matters—making it easier for donors, volunteers, partners, and program participants to engage with us. By improving clarity, usability, and credibility, the redesigned site will strengthen our ability to raise funds, recruit volunteers, and connect students to scholarships, mentorship, and career-readiness opportunities.
Ultimately, this project will ensure that Project Uplift’s digital presence reflects the care, intention, and long-term impact of our work, allowing community members to more easily find support and supporters to more confidently invest in our mission.
We have internal alignment on the purpose and scope of this project and are ready to brief the volunteer on:
Our current website platform and technical constraints
Budget considerations for the eventual site build
Existing branding materials, norms, and tone
Key stakeholder groups and target audiences
We have also gathered initial content, including photos, draft language, and examples of nonprofit websites we admire, which we will share early in the process.
Project Uplift’s leadership will be actively engaged throughout the project, providing timely feedback, participating in scheduled check-ins, and making decisions to keep the work moving forward. The outcomes of this project will be implemented either by a future Taproot web developer volunteer or by a member of our team using the design guidance created through this engagement.
