About the Opportunity

Pay Your Tuition Foundation (PYT) is seeking skilled volunteer support to design and implement an AI-powered accounting operations agent to automate, streamline, and improve the accuracy of our nonprofit financial workflows.

As PYT continues to scale its programs, funding sources, and grant portfolio, our accounting processes have become more complex and time-consuming.

This project will leverage artificial intelligence and automation to optimize core accounting functions, including transaction categorization, fund tracking, reconciliation, compliance management, and financial reporting. By reducing manual processes and improving real-time financial visibility, the AI agent will strengthen financial transparency, enhance compliance, and support audit readiness.

By implementing this solution, PYT will significantly reduce administrative burden, improve data accuracy and reporting efficiency, and free up staff time to focus on mission-critical work that directly supports students and expands access to education.

Scope of Work
1. Assess current accounting processes
2. Design an AI-powered accounting workflow and system architecture
3. Automate key accounting functions, including transaction categorization, reconciliation, grant tracking, and reporting
4. Develop implementation roadmap, documentation, and training materials

Key Deliverables
1. A custom AI accounting agent design blueprint
2. A fully documented accounting automation workflow
3. System architecture and integration diagrams
4. Implementation roadmap
5. SOP documentation
6. Staff training framework

Ideal Skills
*AI systems design and workflow automation
*Accounting systems integration and data architecture (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero)
*Nonprofit accounting and grant compliance and reporting
*Workflow optimization and process automation
*Documentation, training & operational support

As we grow, our ability to manage and report on complex funding streams—across grants, donations, and partnerships—directly impacts our ability to scale student support. By automating our accounting operations, we can ensure compliance, reduce human error, and increase transparency—freeing up our small team to focus on student programs, partnerships, and long-term sustainability.

We’ve recognized our current key bottlenecks and pain points that are slowing down our operations. Our team is fully aligned on the need for automation and eager to collaborate with the volunteer. We’ll provide access to our financial data systems. We’re committed to regular check-ins, clear documentation handoff, and implementation follow-through once the design is complete.

Organization Mission

At PYTF, we are dedicated to empowering underserved communities through innovative financial solutions. We strive to make higher education accessible and sustainable, recognizing the significant funding gaps that hinder many low to moderate-income undergraduate students from starting, staying in, and completing their degrees. Research indicates that financial obstacles account for 50% of the reasons why low-income students fail to complete their degrees. Our vision is to reshape the socioeconomic landscape by ensuring equitable access to education. Through our Student Loanership product offering—a unique blend of loan and scholarship—we connect families and banks to groundbreaking financing solutions. By harnessing technology and data, we bridge the higher education funding gap. Our program not only revolutionizes the scholarship industry but also places a strong emphasis on student advocacy, championing the financial interests, needs, and overall well-being of students. Join us in collaborating with students like you to forge a future where educational equity is universal, and every scholar has the resources to thrive, alongside student-driven initiatives.
