We currently have a WordPress website, but would like help to improve the design to be more dynamic. For example, we would like to feature upcoming events on our Home page & Events page, add in a page to highlight the advocacy and impact work we've done in the past, and build an online donation capability. We hope these updates can be something we can maintain in the long term.

In the first meeting, we will review our current website and discuss the updates desired, our technical expertise and overall the scope of the project. The volunteer will then synthesize the information into a requirements briefing and project plan. We will plan for bi-weekly check ins and can provide feedback offline if needed.
A more dynamic website with integrated donation capability will enable us to:
- Raise awareness of the organization and the contributions we make to the library and the community
- Increase donation to continue to fund books, literacy programs and enable advocacy for literacy
We are a very small organization, and everyone on the board understands the value of this project and are bought in. We have an existing website and ideas of the updates needed to make it more dynamic.

The outcomes of this project will be directly put into use. We currently manage our website ourselves and plan to continue doing so, so it'll be important to build solutions we can realistically support over time.

Organization Mission

The Friends of the Mar Vista Library (FoMVL) is an independent, non-profit organization established to fundraise for and support the Mar Vista Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library. The funds raised are used to enhance the Library’s collection and support events beyond the Library’s annual budget. Friends of Mar Vista Library also advocate for literacy through sponsoring reading programs, represent the community in decisions on Library services & collections, and host recognition events for the staff and volunteers who make the Mar Vista Library a dynamic hub.
