Currently, our student writing from the past 12 years lives in Google Drive and is unconnected to our student CRM in Airtable. We want to work with a skilled volunteer to help design a clear Airtable base structure that links our student writing archive with our existing CRM so our team can more easily track and manage this information over time.

The purposes of this base are as follows:

- To be able to look up all the anthologies an author appears in so their parents know what books to pick up/purchase.
- To look up all the pieces by an author, so we can create a student portfolio over time for the family and to see their progress across time.
- To keep track of how many anthologies we need to order, and who has received them.
- To be able to find individual writing pieces for inclusion in Best of anthologies, social media, or for other purposes.
- To be able to look at student writing for grants and development purposes, by semester, by fiscal year, by workshop, etc…
A searchable, linked anthology base will help families find books that include their child’s work, enable student portfolios to show progress over time, streamline anthology ordering and distribution, and make pieces easy to surface for grants, development, and publicity. Volunteers will directly help Uptown Stories showcase young writers and increase access to their work.
We will provide access to our existing Airtable CRM and the anthology table-of-contents and assign a staff contact to collaborate. Volunteers will work iteratively with staff to refine field mappings, views, and imports.

Organization Mission

At Uptown Stories, we believe that writing is an essential tool for self-expression, critical thinking, and academic success. Based in upper Manhattan, we offer small-group writing workshops for children ages eight to fifteen, led by master teachers and professional authors. To ensure our workshops are accessible to all children, tuition is pay-what-you-can. Whether your child is a struggling writer or an aspiring novelist, Uptown Stories creates an exciting, challenging, and supportive community in which your young author thrives.
