Second Chance Grant Application

Project
Remote

Apply Now
* 1 person has applied to this opportunity
We are seeking a volunteer to create a completed American Humane Second Chance Grant application including an eligibility check, drafted narrative responses, an itemized vet-cost budget for the cases (ex: special needs kitten, elderly abused dog), and assembled supporting documents prepared for online submission. Specific case details and attachments will be provided and discussed with volunteers.
Securing this grant will help offset veterinary costs for animals rescued from abuse or severe neglect, enabling medical recovery and rehabilitation so they can live pain-free and, when possible, be placed in loving homes. Volunteer help directly supports SOAR’s compassionate sanctuary and mission-driven care.
Details will be provided during volunteer interviews. Our team will collaborate closely with the volunteer, review draft responses, provide case intake dates and supporting records as available, and coordinate final review and online submission to ensure the application meets the grant guidelines.

Organization Mission

Mission Statement Sierra Overlook Animal Rescue (SOAR) provides a safe and loving sanctuary for animals in need—those who have been abused, abandoned, or can no longer survive in the wild. Through compassionate care, lifelong support, and a commitment to rehabilitation, we help animals heal and thrive. Our mission is to create a deeper connection between people, animals, and the environment through education, advocacy, and community-driven conservation. Vision Statement We envision a world where every animal is treated with compassion and respect, where sanctuaries serve as safe havens for healing and hope, and where communities come together to protect wildlife, restore ecosystems, and live in harmony with nature. At SOAR, we work toward a future in which animals in need receive the care and protection they deserve—for this generation and the next. Core Values Compassionate Sanctuary: Every animal in our care is seen as an individual with a story and a right to safety. We provide lifelong refuge for those who cannot be released or rehomed, ensuring comfort, dignity, and respect. Healing and Rehabilitation: We believe in second chances. Through personalized medical and behavioral care, we support animals on their journey to recovery and, when possible, prepare them for loving forever homes. Education for Empowerment: By sharing knowledge and fostering empathy, we inspire individuals of all ages to take action for animal welfare, conservation, and responsible pet stewardship. Community Connection: Our strength lies in our community. We engage volunteers, students, and supporters in meaningful, hands-on experiences that foster a sense of shared responsibility for animals and the planet. Stewardship of Nature: Protecting animals means protecting the places they call home. We are dedicated to habitat preservation, environmental cleanups, and promoting sustainable living practices. Integrity & Accountability: We hold ourselves to the highest standards of transparency and ethical care, ensuring every resource is used to maximize our impact for animals and the environment
