With the help of a FilmFreeway-experienced volunteer, we'd like to:

1) Identify children’s and educational film festivals aligned with family safety and child injury prevention
2) Focus on festivals appropriate for ages 3–5
3) Determine which Festivals and submission costs
4) Submit the animated family dog bite prevention videos via FilmFreeway on behalf of our nonprofit.
Children’s Film Festival recognition will expand awareness of family dog bite injury prevention, strengthen institutional credibility, and support fundraising through grants and corporate sponsorships. This visibility and capital is essential to completing our planned 10-video “Paws to Prevent” educational series.

As a largely volunteer-supported nonprofit, guidance from someone experienced with FilmFreeway will have immediate and meaningful impact.
The Center for Canine Behavior Studies, Inc. (CCBS) is a Connecticut based 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on improving human–canine relationships and preventing serious, avoidable dog bite injuries to young children—most of which occur in the home with familiar dogs, and often require plastic and reconstructive surgery, and psychological counseling. This education will help reduce relinquishment of dogs for rehoming, or euthanasia.

Our Be BiteSmart initiative combines decades of canine behavior research with child development expertise to deliver age-appropriate family dog bite injury-prevention education. Two professionally produced animated short films (2 English and 2 Spanish) are already completed and publicly available.

Supporting research materials, background documentation, and access to CCBS leadership will be accessible so the volunteer can work efficiently and confidently.
