We seek a web designer to create structure and design options for our nonprofit website. We use WordPress. We embed forms from DonorPerfect and Constant Contact. The volunteer should assess and incorporate our goals and needs and consider our key audiences. The designer should also assess our technical capabilities.

The project's deliverables are the creation and implementation of architecture and design concepts.

Our work will take place over multiple meetings in six to nine weeks. In our first meeting, the volunteer should interview us about our desired features, our web capabilities, and our technical expertise. Then, they'll synthesize the information into a requirements briefing. We'll engage in various check-ins, where a member or members of our team will provide feedback. The volunteer will audit our current site to create a draft of site architecture and design options including wireframes, site structure, and other visual elements.

The last step is implementing the staff approved design and updating our current website.
Heart-to-Heart helps people affected by incarceration to heal, thrive, and lead. We do this by forming communities of learning and growth in and out of correctional facilities where people develop skills essential for personal and societal healing. These are Mindfulness, Empathy, Decision making, and Conflict transformation (MEDC). Research shows that people who develop these four skills have significantly higher success. People who are incarcerated who complete 50 or more hours of Heart-to-Heart training keep their freedom at a rate of 92% over 3 years, compared to less than 50% of people nationally.

Through your work, Heart-to-Heart will be able to communicate its dynamic theory of change logic model, as well as its board leadership, advisory board, volunteer needs, annual fundraising campaigns, annual report, etc. to its stakeholders. The stakeholders include everyone who will visit the site including but not limited to the general public as well as current and potential program participants, prison administrators and staff, legislators, program partners, board committee members, board directors, other volunteers, foundation & corporate funders, individual donors, and the media. You will help us to attract and funnel the engagement that Heart-to-Heart needs in order to be a success so that it can realize its vision, mission, outcomes, and impact.
We have already thought about and are prepared to brief you about our current website platform, budget restrictions for the build (no budget), our branding collaterals and norms (brand kit available, see also current website branding that we are happy with), and information about our stakeholder groups and target audiences. We've also compiled some photos and have some language developed that we will share with you and samples of sites we like.

Organization Mission

Heart-to-Heart helps those marginalized by society and in the most need to heal, thrive, and become the leaders they are called to be. We do this by forming learning communities in and out of correctional facilities through which people develop skills essential for personal and societal healing.
