We aim to develop a structured data schema and file format to categorize medical products, define units per package, and establish a consistent method for converting package counts into dose counts. This schema should integrate with our existing WMS database to improve tracking of medicine distribution. The project includes creating a mapping table for current products and package types, incorporating pharmaceutical guidance on standard dose units, providing example conversions, and producing clear documentation. A volunteer with strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products and dosing standards is ideal.
Accurate dose-level tracking will improve program reporting and impact assessment, helping ensure medicines reach women, children, and their communities reliably. Volunteers’ contributions will support better forecasting, reduce stockouts, and strengthen delivery of local, sustainable health solutions.
We will provide the volunteer with exports from our central distribution database, our full medication list, and examples of current package sizes. Our team has already completed preliminary research, including consultations with peer organizations and a review of internal data to identify inconsistencies and system constraints. Staff will be available throughout the project to clarify data, confirm programmatic details, and review proposed approaches. Project specifics and timelines will be defined collaboratively with the volunteer.
