We are seeking a skilled mobile app developer to help us design and scope a privacy-first mobile application that extends our existing web platform and supports offline and low-connectivity use.

This is an unusually exciting opportunity: you will be shaping a sophisticated, in-house, grassroots platform that already runs in production with secure, privacy-first workflows (financial tools, immigration support, and job readiness).

The primary outcome is a clear, implementation-ready plan (not a fully built app).

With 2-5 hours per week over a limited engagement, we want to define architecture, data model, offline storage/sync patterns, and a focused MVP feature set. There is real room for creative exploration in how these complex workflows become a mobile-first experience while preserving trust and safety. We are exploring Flutter but are open to the best technical approach.
doobneek builds free, privacy-first digital tools that help immigrants, asylum seekers, and low-income individuals achieve stability through financial literacy, employment readiness, and secure access to legal resources.

Many people we serve rely on mobile devices as their primary or only access to technology and experience unreliable internet connectivity. A thoughtfully designed mobile app, especially one that supports offline use, will make our tools more accessible, safer to use, and easier to trust. This project expands access to essential financial and legal tools for people navigating instability, through a platform that is both sophisticated and grassroots-led.
We are well prepared to support this engagement and respect the limited, focused time a volunteer can offer. We have internal alignment on scope and priorities, documentation of our current web architecture and APIs, and clarity around our privacy, security, and accessibility requirements. The project is led by a full-stack developer who will be present for all working sessions and follow-up.

We will come to meetings prepared with clear questions, relevant materials, and timely feedback. Any outputs from this project will be implemented directly by our team, with additional support from incoming interns.
