Health Justice Initiative is seeking a skilled volunteer to help us design a compelling event program and post-event engagement strategy for our Spring 2026 fundraising brunch in New York City. This project is capacity-building only and focuses on planning, structure, and documentation. All execution and implementation will be handled by the HJI team.

The volunteer will collaborate with HJI staff and members of our fundraising committee to support two closely connected areas of planning:

1. Program & Run-of-Show Design
The volunteer will help us:
- Develop a clear, engaging, and concise event agenda
Recommend best practices for program flow, including:
- Reception and arrival experience, Mission-focused storytelling, Focused fundraising moment (e.g., auction or pledge drive)
- Create a run-of-show outline with suggested timing and transitions
- Provide guidance on pacing, tone, and audience engagement
- Recommend rehearsal and transition best practices (planning only; no facilitation)

2. Post-Event Follow-Up & Donor Engagement Strategy
The volunteer will also help us plan how to maintain momentum after the event by:
Developing a post-event follow-up framework, including:
- Thank-you messaging strategy for attendees, donors, and sponsors
- Timing recommendations (e.g., within 48 hours)
-Advising on content for post-event communications, such as:
- Event highlights, Photos and storytelling, Public acknowledgments of partners and sponsors
- Creating a post-event evaluation template to document:
- Successes
- Areas for improvement
- Recommending opportunities for continued donor engagement and stewardship
This role does not include managing donor relationships, facilitating rehearsals, or executing post-event communications.
Volunteers can expect to spend 2–5 hours per week for 10 weeks.
Health Justice Initiative works to advance a more just and equitable healthcare system by addressing racial and systemic disparities in healthcare access, quality, and outcomes. A strong program and thoughtful post-event engagement are essential to inspiring supporters, deepening relationships, and sustaining donor momentum. This project will help us tell our story more effectively, strengthen community trust, and secure the resources needed to continue advocating for health equity. By supporting this work, volunteers will help ensure that our fundraising efforts are not only successful, but meaningful, mission-aligned, and lasting.
Health Justice Initiative is well-prepared to support this project. We have:
A defined Spring 2026 fundraising brunch with clear goals
Leadership and fundraising committee buy-in
Internal capacity to implement all recommendations
Existing messaging and event context to inform planning

All tools, frameworks, and guidance developed through this project will be actively implemented by our team, ensuring the volunteer’s work leads to real impact.
