Health Justice Initiative is seeking a skilled volunteer to help us develop a sponsorship and partnership strategy for our Spring 2026 fundraising brunch in New York City. This project is capacity-building only and focuses on strategy, planning, and advisory support. All outreach, negotiations, and relationship management will be handled by the HJI team.
The volunteer will work closely with HJI leadership, including our Executive Director, who also operates a dermatology practice, and with members of our fundraising committee. We have early relationships and potential entry points with pharmaceutical, skincare, cosmetic, and health-related companies, but we are seeking expert guidance on how to thoughtfully, ethically, and effectively approach and secure corporate partnerships.

Key areas of support include:
- Advising on sponsorship strategy and partnership models appropriate for a nonprofit fundraising brunch
- Helping us identify strong sponsorship categories and tiers (e.g., presenting sponsor, table sponsor, in-kind partners)
- Recommending best practices for approaching pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and health-adjacent companies
- Providing guidance on aligning corporate partnerships with our mission and values
- Advising on how to leverage existing relationships and warm introductions
- Reviewing or refining sponsorship pitch language and partnership value propositions

This role does not include direct outreach, solicitation, negotiations, or execution. The volunteer will advise and help us build a strategy that our team can implement.
Volunteers can expect to collaborate 2–5 hours per week for a limited number of weeks
Health Justice Initiative works to advance a more just and equitable healthcare system by addressing racial and systemic disparities in healthcare access, quality, and outcomes through litigation, mediation, community organizing, empowerment, and policy advocacy.

Corporate sponsorships and partnerships are essential to the success of our Spring fundraising brunch and our long-term sustainability. As HJI is a small nonprofit with a small budget, it is necessary for us to have some corporate sponsors for this event. Raising these critical unrestricted funds will expand our programs and deepen our impact in communities of color and underserved populations. By supporting this project, volunteers will help build sustainable revenue pathways that directly support health equity, legal advocacy, and community-based care.
Currently, we have:
- A clear monetary fundraising goals for our Spring 2026 brunch
- Executive leadership actively involved in development efforts
- Existing relationships and potential warm leads within healthcare, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries
- Internal capacity to implement recommendations and conduct outreach
We will provide background materials, draft sponsorship concepts, and organizational context to ensure the volunteer’s time is used efficiently. All strategy and guidance developed through this project will be directly implemented by our team.
