Our organization provides critical mental health care, including bilingual counseling in Spanish and Chinese (Mandarin). Our website is the primary gateway for clients to access care, but it is currently hindered by slow backend performance, mobile display failures, and complex WPML configuration issues.

We are seeking a technical expert to conduct a comprehensive diagnostic audit of our WordPress ecosystem.
The goal of this project is to identify the root causes of our site’s sluggishness and layout inconsistencies. We need to understand the "why" behind our dashboard lag and mobile responsiveness issues before we begin technical repairs. This audit will provide the strategic roadmap necessary to ensure all website elements are mobile-responsive and our intake forms and financial aid resources are accessible to all.

Deliverables:
- Technical Performance Report: A detailed analysis of frontend load times and backend (admin) lag, identifying specific plugin conflicts or database bloat.
-WPML Health Assessment: An evaluation of our current multilingual setup, specifically looking at string translation and media handling efficiency.
-Responsive Design Audit: A review of our CSS and theme behavior to identify where and why mobile layouts are failing on key intake pages.
-Prioritized Remediation Roadmap: A ranked list of technical fixes (from "quick wins" to complex updates) to be executed in a follow-up implementation phase.

Desired Volunteer Skills:
-Advanced WordPress Architecture: Deep knowledge of the WP core, database structures, and plugin environments.
-WPML Mastery: Experience diagnosing performance bottlenecks within the WPML suite.
-Performance Analytics: Proficiency with Core Web Vitals and server-side resource monitoring.

Data Privacy & Security Note

As a mental health provider, data privacy and security are our highest priorities. The scope of this project is focused on site performance and front-end responsiveness. The volunteer will not be required to access or export Protected Health Information (PHI) or sensitive financial data. All intake forms are handled via a secure, third-party portal, and we will provide the volunteer with a 'Contributor' or 'Editor' level login that restricts access to sensitive user submissions.
Project Impact

For our clients, our website is the front door to mental health support. When a person in crisis is seeking help, a page that is illegible on a mobile device or a broken translation menu is more than a glitch—it is a barrier to care. These technical failures create unnecessary friction at a moment when our clients need clarity and ease of access the most.

By optimizing our WordPress backend and WPML integration, you are ensuring that all clients can navigate our service requests and financial aid applications without frustration. Your work will directly improve our conversion rate for intake forms, meaning more people in our community receive the counseling they need. Ultimately, this project transforms a technical bottleneck into a seamless pathway for mental health equity and accessibility.
Our leadership team fully supports this technical overhaul. We have designated Kathryn Foubister, Development and Outreach Manager, as the single point of contact to provide the volunteer with timely feedback and the necessary administrative access.

We have verified our hosting environment and confirmed that our backup protocols are active. We are prepared to provide the volunteer with a 'Contributor' or 'Editor' environment to ensure a safe workspace. Additionally, we have a dedicated IT contractor available to provide support or handle server-level tasks as needed during the project.

We have documented our most common 'failure points' regarding backend lag and mobile responsiveness to help the volunteer jump straight into diagnostics. We also have our WPML license and login credentials ready for review.

We have specifically allocated staff time to review the audit results and work alongside the volunteer to execute the high-priority fixes identified.

Because website responsiveness and speed issues currently impact our entire user base, these improvements will ensure a seamless pathway to care for all clients, regardless of their language or the device they use. We intend to integrate the volunteer’s documentation into our maintenance manual to ensure these performance gains are permanent."
