Grant Writing for Organizational History and Proposals

For this project, the volunteer grant writer will collaborate with GDS’s Development Coordinator/Visual Designer, who manages the grant application process. You will identify 10-15 funding opportunities, research grant prospects, and draft 3-4 compelling proposals to new and existing funders. Our current funding priorities are capacity building and the Training Institute (the Reach Your Potential Courses & Training Program), followed by our youth development, intergenerational, advocacy, and mental health programs.

Your work will have a tangible effect on our ability to provide training and programs to strengthen resilience, reduce stigma, foster healing, and create community connection. Your contributions is crucial to helping GDS identify new revenue streams which will support our mission to:
build organizational capacity,
expand our ability to offer our signature Training Institute to a wider audience,
strengthen our existing programs which, along with training and education, includes youth development, mental health and well-being, intergenerational programs and advocacy
nourish our youth, seniors, and their communities to reach their full potential!

In preparation for this project, GDS has tools and resources through which we track foundation and corporate funding opportunities, and a dedicated CRM platform that manages foundation, corporate and individual donors. GDS has developed a strategic plan for 2026 that strengthens our mission statement. We have a wealth of written and visual resources to support the volunteer’s understanding of our mission, the communities we serve, our challenges and successes, and our vision for a successful future. You will have access to the leadership team who will provide clear direction, communication and feedback to ensure you are successful in your work.
