Help our nonprofit build long-term sustainability by investing in our people. We’re seeking a pro bono Human Resources (HR) or organizational development professional to help us develop and implement retention strategies for staff and volunteers.

This project will include:
- Leading a collaborative brainstorming process around retention tactics
- Assessing our current volunteer experience through anonymous surveys and feedback collection
- Co-creating a formal volunteer recognition and appreciation program
- Developing clear communication channels and pathways for advancement or skill development
- Producing a Volunteer Retention Handbook with actionable, easy-to-implement strategies tailored for a virtual environment
- Distilling ideas into a prioritized list of recommendations and advising on best practices for implementation

Estimated time: 4-6 weeks, 2-4 hours/week.
As a fully virtual, volunteer-run organization, our people are our infrastructure. While we excel at recruitment, volunteer churn strains resources and risks program continuity. Improving retention by just 20% could allow us to serve 50 more beneficiaries next year.
We’ll provide past retention tactics, stakeholder details, and compensation information to inform your recommendations. Implementing these strategies is a top priority for our team.
