Organization Mission

The Black Women Physicians Association (BWPA) is redefining what it means to lead in healthcare. Founded in 2019, we are a growing collective of Black women physicians who bring clinical expertise, scientific rigor, and lived experience to the fight against health disparities. We don’t just treat patients—we challenge the status quo. We don’t just conduct research—we co-create knowledge with communities. We don’t wait for change—we drive it. Our mission is grounded in C.A.R.E.—Collaborative Advocates, Responsive Experts—and guided by a deep commitment to justice, trust, and transformation in health. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, BWPA works across disciplines to improve outcomes for historically excluded communities, especially Black women. From mentoring future medical leaders to advancing community-based research, our work is both evidence-driven and people-centered.
