We’re seeking a skilled advisor or storytelling mentor to support the Executive Producer of Creshendo’s audio storytelling team, which is currently collecting and producing refugee and migrant stories across diverse contexts.

The volunteer will meet with the Executive Producer over a defined period to provide guidance and reflective feedback on:

• Approaching refugee interviews with respect, humility, and care
• Understanding power dynamics and trauma-informed storytelling
• Navigating cross-cultural settings with cultural and emotional intelligence
• Incorporating non-Western perspectives into story structure and framing

The project will take place over 6–8 weeks, with a few scheduled conversations and check-ins. To achieve the creation of a short mentoring plan co-written with the Executive Producer, along with documented guidance, tools, or reflection prompts he can continue to use beyond the engagement.
Creshendo’s storytelling project was built in response to what refugee communities told us they needed: a chance to be seen and heard, on their own terms.

This work can only succeed if it’s done with deep respect for the people at the center of the story. Your mentorship will help ensure that our storytelling process is grounded in equity, ethics, and care — across all cultures, languages, and lived experiences.
You’ll receive background on our storytelling project, our interview processes, and where the team currently stands. You’ll meet directly with the Executive Producer or join team calls to provide ongoing guidance. Our leadership team will stay involved and available to support the 6-8 week project.

We welcome lived experience, international backgrounds, and practitioners who understand that storytelling is about responsibility — not just production.
