We’re seeking a volunteer with professional accounting or finance experience in nonprofit payroll tax compliance and multi-state filing requirements to help create a calendar-based schedule and a step-by-step workflow for managing and submitting federal and state quarterly employment taxes in Maine, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, North Carolina, and Washington.

The schedule will include deadlines tailored to the states where we operate, and the workflow will outline responsibilities, required documentation, and recommended tools or platforms to streamline the process.

As an organization committed to the education and empowerment of formerly incarcerated individuals, we rely on strong back-office systems to ensure we can focus our time and energy on delivering our programs. This project will help us remain compliant with state and federal requirements, avoid penalties, and operate more efficiently—so we can invest more resources in helping our participants build new futures. Skills Needed: CPA, Financial Audit, Accounting

We’ll provide the volunteer with access to any current documentation or systems in use (e.g., payroll tools) and availability for regular check-ins to answer questions.
