We’d like to partner with a skilled UI/UX Designer to refresh and redesign our website so it has a modern, user-friendly, and impactful look. Our goal is to develop a unique visual identity that reflects our mission of providing clean water and sanitation to rural communities and makes it easier for visitors to engage with, support, and understand our work.

Project Details

Review & Assessment: Evaluate our current website, its layout, navigation, and overall user experience.

Design Direction: Collaborate with our founder and developer to shape the new design direction and visual identity.

Recommendations & Mockups: Suggest improvements in layout, navigation flow, color palette, typography, and overall usability; provide design inputs such as mockups or simple layouts to guide development.

User-Centered Approach: Ensure the redesigned site highlights our impact, donation opportunities, and volunteer engagement in an intuitive way.

What We’re Looking For in a Volunteer

Experience or strong interest in UI/UX design (a portfolio or examples of previous work are welcome but not mandatory).

Creativity and the ability to translate our mission into a simple, modern visual identity.

Familiarity with design tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or Canva.

A collaborative spirit and willingness to share ideas with a small, passionate team. The volunteer would contribute about 2–5 hours per week for a limited number of weeks.

our current website is : https://dropofwater.org/
our aspiration website: https://www.charitywater.org/
At Drop of Water, everything we do is about one simple goal: bringing safe, clean drinking water and sanitation to rural communities in Ethiopia. Every year, our projects improve the health, dignity, and opportunities of thousands of children, women, and families.

Our website is often the first point of contact for donors, volunteers, partners, and community advocates. A modern, user-friendly design will help us:

Tell powerful stories about the communities we serve.

Engage new supporters who can fund or volunteer for our programs.

Demonstrate transparency and impact to current donors and partners.

Mobilize action quickly during emergencies, such as droughts or disease outbreaks.

By lending your skills to this redesign, you’re not just improving a website—you’re helping us reach more people, raise more resources, and deliver life-changing water and sanitation services to the communities that need them most.

Why Volunteer With Us

By joining us, you’ll be shaping the digital face of an NGO making real-world impact. Your creative input will directly support our mission of bringing clean water to communities in need and will be implemented immediately by our in-house team and developer. You’ll see your ideas go live and make a difference.

Together, we can create an online presence that inspires action and makes clean water a reality for more families every day.
We’ve done our homework to make sure this project is set up for success. Our leadership team—including the Executive Director, communications staff, and our website developer—has already discussed and agreed on the need for a site refresh, so you’ll have clear decision-makers and fast feedback.

We’ve gathered the key materials you’ll need (brand guidelines, photos, impact stories, program descriptions, donor information) and will prepare additional content as requested. We’ve also reviewed best practices from other nonprofits and from earlier Taproot Plus projects to understand how to collaborate effectively with pro bono talent.

Most importantly, we have a clear plan for how the new design will be implemented:

Our developer is ready to integrate your design recommendations into our platform.

Our communications team will update text and visuals to match the new layout.

We will track metrics like visitor engagement, time on page, and donation conversions to measure impact.

We value our volunteers’ time and expertise, and we’ll make sure your work is visible, implemented, and celebrated. You’ll have regular check-ins with the Executive Director and the developer, a dedicated point of contact for quick responses, and access to all the materials you need from day one.
