We want to create a professional, donor-ready website that clearly communicates our mission, impact, and credibility as a nonprofit serving veterans in Northern Virginia. The goal is to move beyond our current basic Wix site and develop an online presence that inspires trust among grantmakers, donors, and community partners.
Project Description:
We’d like a Taproot volunteer to help us:
Redesign or enhance our existing Wix site (or advise on migration to WordPress if more effective).
Improve content layout and storytelling to highlight our history, mission, and veteran impact.
Add a secure and simple donation function to encourage online giving.
Create or connect a basic database to track donors, recurring gifts, and contacts.
Ensure the site is mobile-friendly and easy to update for future events, success stories, or appeals.
We are an all-volunteer nonprofit, so having professional guidance for a limited number of weeks will make a lasting difference in how we present ourselves to the community and prospective funders.
Our mission is to provide immediate financial assistance to veterans and their families in Northern Virginia—helping with rent, utilities, food, and other urgent needs. Last year, we supported over 30 families directly and partnered with other veteran groups to reach many more.
Your skills will help us take this impact further. Right now, our website is too basic to show grantmakers, donors, and community partners the real difference we make. By redesigning it, you’ll give us the professional online presence we need to earn trust, attract funding, and reach more veterans in crisis.
In short: your time and talent will directly translate into keeping veterans in their homes, helping them feed their families, and making sure no one who served is left behind.
We’ve already done the internal groundwork to ensure this project succeeds. Our Board of Directors (all veterans and experienced community leaders) is fully supportive and eager to improve our website as a priority for donor outreach and grant credibility. We have mission statements, brochures, and flyers prepared, along with real examples of our veteran impact, so content is ready to be integrated.
As President, I’ll be the primary point of contact to make sure the volunteer’s time is used effectively and decisions are made quickly. Other board members are available for feedback and content input. Once the site is developed, our team is committed to keeping it current with new success stories, donation appeals, and updates, so the volunteer’s work will have lasting value.
We’re organized, responsive, and motivated—our volunteer partner can be confident that their time will directly help us support veterans and their families.

Organization Mission

The Northern Virginia Vietnam Veterans Foundation (NVVVF), founded in 2025, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created as the funding arm of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 227. While NVVVF is new, Chapter 227 has served the Northern Virginia veteran community for nearly 40 years under the principle “Leave No Veteran Behind.” Our all-volunteer board raises and directs charitable donations to provide immediate financial assistance to veterans and their families — covering urgent needs such as rent, utilities, food, car repairs, and holiday support. Because NVVVF has no paid staff or overhead, 100% of donations go directly to veterans and their families.
