HR Assessment & Recommendations: Remote Workers & State Compliance

We need a volunteer who can virtually conduct a comprehensive HR assessment and then deliver concrete recommendations on necessary improvements specifically when it comes to developing a policy around where remote employees can live and how we operationalize those processes.

We are currently registered in 11 states with 12 employees and are looking to develop a comprehensive policy on when to register in new states, close registrations, or pause operations.

While this project focuses on our internal HR systems, its impact is directly felt in our ability to serve survivors of human trafficking. Our team is our most valuable asset, and providing them with a supportive, equitable, and sustainable work environment is essential for fulfilling our mission.

This project will help us strengthen our organization from the inside out. By improving our HR management, this volunteer will help us:
- Enhance staff well-being and reduce burnout, ensuring our team can provide consistent, high-quality, and trauma-informed support to survivors.
- Live our values internally, as our mission is grounded in equity and anti-oppression. Strong HR practices ensure we are building a workplace culture that reflects the just world we are fighting for.
- Increase our long-term sustainability, allowing us to attract and retain talented staff who are dedicated to the anti-trafficking movement.

Ultimately, a well-supported team is an effective team. Your expertise in HR will empower our staff to do their best work, directly contributing to better outcomes for the survivors we serve.

This project will involve the exchange of sensitive internal information. With that in mind, we've done the pre-work internally to ensure leadership and staff buy-in to this work and gather the information that will be handed off to the volunteer. The handbook and registrations list will be available. We'd also like to have a discussion of the challenges faced in the pat and future goals. The recommendations shared by our volunteer partner will be incorporated into our operations and people strategy in the coming months.
