We would like to work with a Taproot volunteer to help us develop and execute a clear, consistent, and engaging social media strategy across our platforms (primarily Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn).

At Seniors in Distress (SID), our mission is to create a safe space to care for and protect seniors from neglect, abuse and fraud. We function solely by providing advocacy, emotional support, and access to vital resources. A core part of our impact depends on how well we share our mission and stories with the public, which is why we are seeking a volunteer to help us improve our Social Media strategy.

Specific tasks we are hoping the volunteer will assist with include:

-Creating and designing 7-10 compelling and empathetic posts and/or templates that highlight our programs, advocacy work, and senior success stories, and maintain a consistent brand identity.
-Creating a post schedule to ensure we have a steady online presence.
-Monitoring engagement to suggest strategies to increase visibility and interaction with our audience.
-Advising our team on best practices for nonprofit social media management.

We envision the volunteer dedicating 2–5 hours per week over the project duration. Your expertise will help us raise awareness, build stronger community connections, and ultimately extend our services to more seniors who need support.
At Seniors in Distress (SID), every story we share has the power to change a life. Many seniors in our community suffer silently, isolated, mistreated, or overlooked. By raising awareness, sharing resources, and telling their stories with dignity, we connect them to the support and advocacy they desperately need.

This is where your role as a volunteer becomes so powerful. With your creativity and digital expertise, you’ll help us:

-Shine a spotlight on seniors who often go unheard, ensuring their struggles and triumphs reach a wider audience.
-Spread knowledge of our programs — from advocacy and mental health support to community engagement — so more seniors and families know help is available.
-Strengthen our voice online, attracting new partners, donors, and community members who can join us in creating safer, healthier, and more connected lives for seniors.

Your time and talents will not only boost our social media presence but will also directly translate into seniors gaining access to food, legal advocacy, mental health resources, and human connection.

When you volunteer with SID, you are not just creating posts or graphics. You are advocating and amplifying the voices of seniors who need to be seen, heard, and cared for. With your help, we can ensure that no senior suffers in silence.
At Seniors in Distress (SID), we have taken deliberate steps to ensure this project is set up for success and that the volunteer’s time and skills will be valued and well-utilized.

Internal Team: Our leadership team and program staff are fully aligned on the importance of strengthening our social media presence. Everyone is eager to provide input, share stories, and supply content to make the volunteer’s work impactful.

Materials Prepared: We have gathered photos, videos, testimonials, program highlights, and organizational branding materials (logo, color palette, mission statements, etc.) that can be used to create compelling content right away.

Clear Goals: We have outlined specific social media objectives, raising awareness about senior isolation, showcasing our programs, and engaging both community members and potential partners. The volunteer’s work will directly feed into these goals.

Implementation Plan: Our team is committed to learning from the volunteer’s expertise. Once a content calendar and best practices are established, our in-house staff will take over the posting and monitoring to ensure sustainability long after the pro bono engagement ends.
