990 Tax Return and Finance Review

My goal for this Taproot Project is to receive assistance preparing and filing our annual 990 Tax Return for the year 2024. We were granted an extension on the filing deadline until November 15, 2025.

I would also like assistance preparing a financial compilation that reviews our finances from 2024.

Help with either one of these tasks is welcome, even if you cannot do both.

Through working with the No More A Stranger Foundation on this project, the volunteer will help further our mission to advocate together with and on behalf of individuals from immigrant, migrant, and refugee backgrounds to strengthen our communities. We carry out our mission by providing quality legal services for free to those in need of legal representation in immigration cases. We train and rely on volunteers to assist with legal service provision, allowing us to provide quality legal representation to thousands of individuals and families at a lower cost than any law firm. Similarly, professional volunteer assistance with our taxes and financial data will help our organization maintain credibility, access additional funding sources, and demonstrate that caring for one's neighbor is not just a religious ideal or heart-warming quote, but an actual action that benefits both the volunteer and the individual or family receiving legal help that they would not be able to access anywhere else.

My team and I will prepare the information (such as board member info, staff salary allocation, lobbying info, donor/donation details, etc.) and documents (bank statements, written allocation procedures, etc.) needed for the taxes and financial compilation and will share them with the volunteer in a secure format.
