Grant Research And Writing
We’re seeking a skilled volunteer to help us research and write grants to support our pilot programs in 2026. Specifically, we’d like assistance identifying aligned grant opportunities, drafting a reusable grant narrative that outlines our mission and programming, and (if possible) tailoring that narrative into a few core proposal templates or letters of inquiry.
We’d love to work with someone who has experience with nonprofit fundraising, grant databases, and/or LGBTQ+ advocacy.
This project will directly support our ability to launch Rainbow Routes, a new initiative offering study abroad and away opportunities for LGBTQ+ students and allies. Our mission is to connect students with queer histories and communities around the world, providing affirming, transformative experiences that build confidence, resilience, and global awareness.
As a new organization, securing funding is one of the most critical steps toward bringing our vision to life. With your support, we’ll be able to identify aligned funders and build strong, reusable grant materials that can open the door to scholarships, program development, and broader access for students who might not otherwise be able to participate.
By volunteering your skills, you’ll be helping us create life-changing opportunities for queer youth—and laying the foundation for a program designed to combat isolation, increase visibility, and foster intercultural connection.
We’re well-prepared to make this a successful partnership. We’ve secured our nonprofit status, developed clear program descriptions and budgets, and gathered existing language about our mission and impact. We’ve also identified key funding priorities and are actively building out our fundraising strategy.
That said, we’re brand new to grant writing and eager to learn — we’d deeply value a volunteer who can not only help us craft strong materials, but also guide us through best practices as we grow our development capacity. We’re ready to provide any materials needed (from program overviews to financials) and will offer timely feedback and consistent communication. The outcomes of this project will be implemented immediately, as we begin pursuing funding for our 2026 pilot programs and future organizational growth.
