We are searching for a volunteer who can lead our development of a new and improved mission and vision statement that will communicate our purpose and vision to a variety of stakeholders. Our ideal volunteer partner will be a creative communicator who is ready to dive into messaging strategy with our team!

We will work together to complete the project through three meetings in three weeks. The first meeting will be an opportunity for our team to provide you with a briefing on our core stakeholders and goals as an organization. We will provide the volunteer with our existing mission or value statement and orient the volunteer to discuss our current vision and the way we deliver on it through our programs. In our second meeting, the volunteer should present a first draft. We will provide feedback. We may work asynchronously for continued feedback, and in our final meeting together, the volunteer will deliver the final, copy-edited version.

At the International Girls Academy, our mission is more than just words on a page—it's the heartbeat of our community. Keeping that mission fresh and relevant is essential for us to continue making a real impact in the lives of our girls. Updating it isn't a corporate exercise; it’s about sharpening our focus and renewing our promise to every student we serve.

Think of our mission as our North Star. It guides every single decision we make, from the big strategic plans down to the daily lesson plans in our classrooms. It ensures that everything we do—whether it's our curriculum on advocacy and storytelling or a new program rooted in the principles of the Nguzo Saba—is aligned with our core purpose of uniting, uplifting, and empowering girls to become leaders and problem-solvers. It keeps us all pointing in the same direction.

A clear mission is also what builds our powerful sense of sisterhood across our chapters in New York, New Jersey, the DMV, and Atlanta. When our staff, our students, and their families all share an understanding of what we stand for, it creates an incredible culture of support and belonging. It’s the common thread that ties our entire community together, reminding us that we’re all part of one family, working toward one goal.

Ultimately, this is about ensuring our girls thrive. A focused mission challenges us to constantly ask, "Is this truly helping our students build their confidence? Are we giving them the tools to become entrepreneurs and change-makers?" It’s our benchmark for success. It pushes us to innovate and improve so that every girl who walks through our doors leaves with the self-assurance and skills to shape her own future.

Finally, our mission is our story to the world. It’s how we communicate our passion and our purpose to parents, partners, and supporters. A powerful, updated mission energizes people and inspires them to join us. It’s an invitation to be part of a movement dedicated to creating a safe and empowering society for the next generation of female leaders.

We will provide the volunteer with our existing mission, vision, or value statement plus other relevant background materials. Our organization has clearly defined stakeholders and will provide that information to our volunteer partner. We have a designated member of our team available to work with the volunteer on this project.
