We are seeking support to prepare for our first Single Audit. As a small nonprofit that has grown quickly and now receives federal pass-through funding, we need guidance to ensure our financial systems and documentation meet the necessary compliance standards. The volunteer would assist us with identifying what records and processes are required for a Single Audit, help assess our current readiness, and offer recommendations to strengthen internal controls, documentation practices, and compliance policies. The scope includes reviewing our grant tracking, financial reporting, and audit trail processes.

Your expertise will help build the financial backbone of a nonprofit that’s making a real difference. Our organization provides culturally responsive and trauma-informed support to refugees, immigrants, and newcomers—work that depends on sustainable, transparent funding. By helping us prepare for our first Single Audit, you’ll ensure that our growth is grounded in strong compliance and accountability practices. Your time and knowledge will empower us to continue serving vulnerable communities while meeting the highest financial standards.

Our leadership team is fully committed to this work and understands its importance for maintaining compliance and long-term sustainability. We’ve already begun gathering relevant financial documentation, past grant agreements, and internal financial procedures. We’re familiar with keeping projects focused and collaborative. Once the audit readiness assessment is complete, our team will implement your recommendations directly, and we are budgeting for the audit itself in our upcoming fiscal plan.

Organization Mission

PACIFIC REFUGEE SUPPORT GROUP (formerly Portland Refugee Support Group) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit focused on re-empowering refugees, asylum seekers, and newcomers to the community through a trauma-informed care, culturally responsive, and human-centered approach. The story of Pacific Refugee Support Group began in 2016 when a small group of women concerned about the ongoing crisis in Syria began offering support to a refugee family newly arriving in Portland. Today, hundreds of families throughout the Pacific Northwest are offered that same support. The majority of our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers, are still primarily drawn from the communities in which we work, and are trained in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and individual centered approach to re-empowering each refugee, asylum seeker, and newly arriving member of our community.
