Refugee Integration Curriculum Development
We’re seeking a trauma-informed education mentor to support the development of our Trainer of Trainers (ToT) program for Creshendo’s refugee-led integration curriculum. We’d love guidance from someone with a deep understanding of how trauma impacts learning, attention, memory, and confidence, especially in adult learners and displaced communities.
The core of this project involves reviewing and strengthening our ToT design so that facilitators (many of whom are refugees themselves) feel confident, safe, and equipped to teach others in their communities. We’re hoping to explore practical methods for incorporating safety, co-regulation, story-based learning, and curiosity-based engagement into each part of the ToT journey.
The volunteer would:
• Review our current curriculum outline
• Provide feedback and trauma-informed suggestions
• Recommend facilitation strategies or practices that support adult refugee learners
• Help us think through pacing, framing, and reflection tools that are healing-centered and culturally humble
We estimate a commitment of 1-2 hours per week over 4 to 6 weeks, with flexible collaboration and mutual respect at the heart of the process.
Creshendo’s mission is to build refugee-led, self-sustaining solutions that reduce dependency and restore dignity. Our WhatsApp-based integration curriculum helps newly arrived refugees gain access to local systems, digital literacy, and job pathways. But to make this work truly scalable, we train refugees as facilitators so they can teach others in their community.
This project directly strengthens that goal. With your help, we can ensure our Trainer of Trainers program reflects not just strong teaching methods, but also healing-centered, trauma-informed learning. When facilitators feel safe and empowered, they create that same environment for their learners. Your support will ripple outward into dozens of communities, building strength, skill, and hope from the inside out.
We’ve already laid a strong foundation for this collaboration. Our internal curriculum team is aligned, energized, and deeply committed to trauma-informed work. We’ve drafted an initial ToT curriculum framework and outlined key values and pedagogical goals. We’ve also reviewed best practices in refugee education and gathered existing materials that the volunteer can use as a starting point.
Our team has experience collaborating with outside consultants, and we’re happy to provide clear meeting schedules, reference docs, and a single point of contact for streamlined communication. We are open, curious, and genuinely excited to learn from your expertise. We will use your input directly in our facilitator training rollout, so you’ll see your contribution brought to life.
