Craft a Communications Plan Template to Amplify Our Impact
We are seeking a skilled volunteer to help us create a templated communications plan that we can reuse for launching new programs and promoting fundraising events.
This plan would outline clear messaging frameworks, sample timelines, suggested communication channels (email, social media, press releases, etc.), and customizable templates we can adapt for each major launch or campaign. The goal is to create a practical, actionable guide that enables our small team to execute communications efforts consistently and efficiently, without starting from scratch each time.
Specifically, the volunteer would assist us with:
• Drafting a communications plan template tailored to our nonprofit’s goals.
• Creating a timeline/checklist of typical activities leading up to a program launch or event.
• Drafting reusable templates for core messaging (example: email announcement, social media post, press release outline).
• Advising on best practices for timing, messaging, and channel selection.
We anticipate this project will require around 2-5 hours per week over the course of 6–8 weeks.
At HIGHER, our mission is to help women rise — from crisis to leadership, from surviving to thriving. We offer free coaching, community, and holistic leadership programs to women overcoming systemic barriers, trauma, and adversity.
Clear, consistent, and compelling communication is essential to reaching women who need our services, engaging new supporters, and expanding our fundraising efforts to sustain and grow our impact.
By helping us create a templated communications plan, the volunteer will directly strengthen our ability to:
• Reach and serve more women in crisis.
• Mobilize resources and build strategic partnerships faster.
• Launch new programs and campaigns with greater efficiency and confidence.
Our volunteer's contributions will help ensure that no woman faces crisis alone — and that our work continues to grow and transform lives for years to come.
We have already identified this templated communications plan as a top internal priority and have full leadership buy-in.
To set this project up for success, we will provide the volunteer with:
• Examples of past programs and events we’ve launched, along with any associated materials.
• Our current branding guidelines, mission statement, and audience profiles.
• A dedicated point of contact who will be responsive, collaborative, and committed to moving the project forward.
• Clear deadlines, expectations, and feedback loops to ensure steady progress.
Once the template is finalized, it will be integrated immediately into our standard operating procedures for communications at HIGHER. This will ensure the volunteer's work has a lasting, meaningful impact on our ability to promote future programs and fundraising initiatives.
