Equity on Fire’s mission is to enhance the work environment for firefighters. We believe that no one should endure harassment or discrimination, and we strive to provide the necessary tools and support to combat these issues effectively. Our organization works closely with individuals to understand their personal situations, offering tailored advice in line with their aspirations. Women, people of color, and LGBTQ populations have historically been underrepresented in the fire service. U.S. Fire Departments are the least diverse of all American emergency and military organizations. We provide personalized consultations to firefighters who are experiencing harassment or discrimination. Our team listens carefully to each firefighter's story, understanding their specific circumstances and concerns. We then offer tailored advice, guiding them on how to proceed in a manner that aligns with their goals and ensures their well-being. EOF also offers litigation support, media support and access, and policy change advocacy.
Since our inception, Equity on Fire (EOF) has made a substantial impact on the lives of firefighters across the country. Our support has empowered individuals to stand up against injustice, and our advocacy efforts have resulted in meaningful policy changes. We are proud of the positive difference we have made and remain committed to continuing our mission.

EOF is searching for a grant writer to assist our team in creating a grant proposal template a grant proposal.

To implement this grant writing project, we'll need three meetings with a volunteer. In our first meeting, we will provide you with drafts of our Strategic Plan, Concept Paper and Budget and review these materials with you. We'll align on expectations and agree on the project timeline. Next, you'll review our document using the track changes function checking for inconsistencies and continuity errors, and creates a list of recommended changes to share with us. After up to two rounds of edits which the volunteer will make the agreed-upon changes to the document. We request a third meeting to discuss possible grantors, corporations and foundations to approach.

We have a dedicated team member for the project who will provide you with the document that needs to be reviewed in an easily shareable format. (Microsoft Word, Google Docs, etc.) We will send you our drafts of the materials mentioned above.
