WordPress Website Development

Defend the Movement Québec (DMQ) enlisted the help of non-professional volunteers to create and launch our website for us. Our two front-end people can no longer work on this project because of unanticipated personal circumstances. We are thus looking for a confident, competent, and accountable volunteer who has expertise in WordPress to help us finish the job. Our website is about 2/3 finished already but we cannot afford professional website designers as we are a new organization paying for most things at this point out of our own pockets.

Basically, all organizations need a website to be viable in 2025! Our website will legitimize our work and inform the public about what we do, facilitate fundraising, and provide resources to the communities we serve. It will also make visible the important social and climate justice movements we support, the courage and integrity of progressive activists, and educate the public about movement law. Movement lawyering has never been more important for protecting the protest and supporting those fighting for progressive societal transformation than in this historical moment of polycrisis.

As described above, we already have the back-end work done for the website and a substantial portion of the front-end. We will need a couple of more plug-ins--for sure a donation plug-in and potentially others, but the web design seems pretty straightforward. Aside from this, we have a good sense of what we want already and we are easy to work with.
