Copywriting For Website Blog Posts
We are looking for someone who wants to exercise their passion for writing. Specifically, we would like the writer to write several (ideally 6-9, but up to the volunteer's capacity) posts of about 500-1000 words each.
The volunteer will be able to successfully: (1) Embed links into the blogposts that are designed to entertain and educate, as well as link back to other parts of our website (2) Use our messaging document and brand to apply a cohesive tone that appeals to our audience (3) Share emotion whether it's shock, sadness, or frustration at a situation (4) Include SEO words that will make our website or blogposts effectively answer search engine questions (5) Create posts that align with our editorial calendar (6) Draft posts within our website CMS (7) Identify photos from our gallery that would work well within the text of each blog post
Are you looking for an outlet to write? Are you curious about what it's like to live in rural Zambia? Perhaps you want to know what it takes to escape extreme poverty? If so, this is the right role for you to do some research, Q&A gathering, and writing to bring a voice to The Harvest Fund and the poorest but brightest women farmers on this planet.
We launched our pilot program in September 2019 in Kafue, Zambia so we are a very young but fast-moving organization. We have a one-of-a-kind model that does generate a lot of questions but we want to use our blog to answer them. Plus, we want to increase general global knowledge about the lives of women farmers who live on $1+ a day; they may not have access to the internet to share their challenges, but we can do that for them. We believe this could be the start of a truly unique movement in the niche sector of agricultural development. You can choose to use your special skills and be a part of it. Apply to this role so we can have a conversation and you can learn more about these farmers and our model!
Our editorial content calendar provides a skeleton for each blog post. We also recommend SEO keywords for titles, subheaders, etc. We are open to the volunteer using an AI tool to generate the first drafts of each blog post, but we would love for the volunteer to incorporate some details of our work by interviewing staff. We think it would be an excellent opportunity for the volunteer to make friends internationally and learn about Zambia!
