Guided by the Holy Spirt, the Higher Education Coalition on Synodality is a national coalition of synodality practitioners - students and bishops, minsters on campus and in dioceses, and campus and Church leaders - who animate an inclusive co-responsibility for the Church’s mission in the context of higher education in the US. Together we foster synodal encounters, build bridges of understanding, form each other in the spiritual disciplines and skills of discernment, grow the protagonist of young adults and strengthen synodal relationships. We are working with core members and participants to clarify our purpose and develop a three year strategic plan.

The coalition engages a variety of campuses and dioceses in an effort to engage young men and women on our college campuses. The task of developing a strategic plan invites us to clarify our mission and vision while assessing our assets toward building an impactful coalition.
We have held several regional and national events virtually. We desire to be more strategic in doing our work and building lasting partnerships.

There is leadership team of four from different ministerial settings. We have a core team of 8-12 members that lead various aspect of our work - recruitment of campuses, facilitator training, young adult engagment, and national events. Several of our members participated in a development workshop by Taproot in November. The discernment of the core team is that we need to be more strategic about our efforts to further the work of synodality in the Church.
