Website Redesign
We’re looking for a skilled volunteer to help us enhance our current website, www.dropofwater.org. While the site showcases the heart of our mission, we want to take it to the next level by making it more dynamic, visually engaging, and impact-driven. The aim is to better demonstrate the impact of our work, engage visitors more effectively, and clearly communicate how we’re making a difference.
Project Tasks:
Homepage & Visual Design Overhaul:
Redesign the homepage to more prominently feature our impact, with dynamic content like interactive stats, success stories, or a rotating carousel of current projects.
Make the homepage more visually engaging with updated design elements (icons, images, typography) while keeping it simple and clean.
Showcasing Impact:
Develop interactive features that highlight our accomplishments (e.g., progress bars, infographics, or case studies). For example, a “Where We Work” section could benefit from an interactive map that shows project locations.
Incorporate visuals that help communicate the tangible outcomes of our projects
Content Strategy & Engagement:
Add a blog or news section to keep visitors updated on the latest projects, stories, or milestones.
Create sections for testimonials, quotes from beneficiaries, or stories that make the impact more personal.
Ensure the website encourages actions, such as donating, signing up for newsletters, or following social media channels.
Technical Enhancements:
Improve site speed and optimize for mobile users.
Implement or enhance SEO features to increase organic traffic and visibility on search engines.
Analyze and suggest any backend improvements (e.g., integration with donation platforms, email sign-ups, etc.).
What We’re Looking For:
A web designer/developer with experience in creating user-friendly, dynamic, and visually appealing websites.
Knowledge of SEO best practices and how to implement them effectively.
Ability to integrate interactive elements and make technical improvements.
Strong communication skills to ensure that the design reflects our vision and aligns with our mission.
Through working with our organization on this project, the volunteer will support our mission by:
Helping us better showcase our impact and engage a wider audience in our cause. At Drop of Water, we work tirelessly to provide clean water and vital resources to communities in need around the world. But, while our work is impactful, we know that effectively communicating our story is just as important as the work we do on the ground.
By enhancing our website, the volunteer will play a key role in enabling us to:
Reach More People: A dynamic, engaging, and user-friendly website will help us attract more supporters—whether they’re individuals looking to donate, partners interested in collaboration, or communities seeking our resources. With improved design and content, we’ll be able to better capture their attention and encourage them to take action.
Showcase Our Impact: Clear and compelling presentation of our results will help us demonstrate the tangible outcomes of our work, such as the number of communities we’ve served, the gallons of clean water we've provided, and the people we’ve impacted. Volunteers will help us visually tell these stories, which is vital for building trust and showing our accountability to donors and stakeholders.
Engage with Our Community: Engaging features—such as real-time updates, success stories, and calls to action—will help us foster a deeper connection with those who care about our mission. Volunteers will directly help us create a space where our community of supporters, donors, and advocates can come together, stay informed, and feel connected to the cause.
Empower Our Team: A more effective and polished website will empower our staff and volunteers by giving them a more impactful tool to share with potential supporters and partners. It will also give our team the ability to easily update content and manage key areas of the site without needing outside assistance. This will ensure that our messaging stays fresh and aligned with our ongoing work.
By volunteering with us, you’ll be a critical part of our mission to bring clean water to those who need it most. The time and skills you dedicate to this project will have a ripple effect, helping us build a stronger, more connected community of supporters, and ultimately enabling us to reach more people with life-changing resources. Your contribution will directly help improve lives around the world—one drop at a time.
My teams are prepared for this project by:
Internal Buy-In & Alignment:
We've already had discussions across our leadership and communications teams to ensure everyone is aligned on the vision for the website. We all agree on the importance of making the website a more dynamic tool for showcasing our impact and engaging our audience. Our leadership team is on board and will be available for regular check-ins to provide input, feedback, and approval as needed.
Gathering Materials & Resources:
We have collected the key materials for the project, including logos, brand guidelines, imagery, video assets, and any existing content that needs to be incorporated into the redesign. This includes impact reports, photos from our projects, and success stories.
Post-Project Implementation:
Once the website redesign is completed, we will take full responsibility for the site’s ongoing maintenance and updating. Our team will ensure that the new dynamic features, content, and analytics are incorporated into our regular workflow. We’re committed to keeping the website fresh and updated, and will train key staff to manage the website’s content going forward.
