Employee Handbook Development

Apply Now

We are looking for a volunteer who can review our employee handbook and help make updates to our existing materials. We're hoping to find a partner with a background in HR and/or operations to improve transparency and accountability by clarifying our employees’ legal rights and our policies, benefits, and other expectations for performance and conduct in a new or revised employee handbook. This project will contain the following activities:

-Conducting an audit of our existing policies including reviewing our existing materials and asking any clarifying questions
-Identify policies that we should modify and any new policies or areas that should be addressed and included
-Review existing Handbook
-Provide a detailed outline of new policies or areas needed for the Handbook
-Finalize the handbook after receiving feedback from our team

Our organization has grown exponentially since 2019. In 2019, we had 4 staff, and now we have 19 staff which we have maintained since 2022. A Handbook was quickly drafted with the help of some volunteers in 2022, but it is bare bones and we are looking to update the Handbook to reflect our values as an organization and to be in compliance with applicable laws.

To prepare, we've designated a team member to oversee the project. We'll provide you with our existing Employee Handbook, internal communications regarding employment policies, and any other policies that we have in place. We anticipate that the volunteer could spend 15-20 hours over the next 8 weeks. The goal is to roll out the new and updated Employee Handbook in January 2025.
