Environmental Scan

Our nonprofit is in the process of developing a strategic plan. As part of this work, we would like an environmental scan to validate and further refine our mission and vision. To help complement this project, we are also recruiting a volunteer for a separate pro bono project to conduct a SWOT analysis. These two pieces and the corresponding research should support one another and add to our strategy efforts.

A list of key questions you we hope an environmental scan can help your organization answer:
1. Can we identify metrics or data that connects culinary literacy to well-being?
2. Should we have a dual track of both community and corporate focus?
3. Is it realistic to use a Bombas model, where large corporate donations will fund both culinary literacy for employees as well as community programs?
4. Are there other charities who have attempted this and if so, what is their model? How much have they raised?
5. How can we calculate the impact of our programs?
6. Should we partner with other nonprofits to back into health impact for certain diseases or conditions, e.g., American Heart Association?

We are a brand new nonprofit that needs to build from the ground up. There are only two of us and I am the President. Our nonprofit and 501c3 were filed 2 months ago. I have compiled several data points from a variety of journals and data sources that speak to the need. I would like a volunteer to review those, determine if they are useful, and ideally bring new data to us and compile it for inclusion in our strategic plan.
