We are looking for a volunteer who can develop an employee handbook or make updates to our existing materials.

We're hoping to find a partner with a background in HR and/or operations to improve transparency and accountability by clarifying our employees’ legal rights and our policies, benefits, and other expectations for performance and conduct in a new or revised employee handbook. This project will contain the following activities:

-Conducting an audit of our existing policies including reviewing our existing materials and asking any clarifying questions
-Identify policies that we should modify and any new policies or areas that should be addressed and included
-Present a detailed outline of a new handbook
-Finalize the handbook after receiving feedback from our team

We are a small nonprofit that takes care of homeless and low-income families in our community. We have a great team and I want to make sure that they are well taken care of as employees. We can't always pay great salaries, but if I can demonstrate that I am trying to treat them well and be in compliance with all HR requirements and laws, I feel like that shows respect to them for the great work they do. We are easy to work with and it is for a really good cause! Thank you so much for your consideration and willingness to help!

To prepare, we've designated a team member to oversee the project. We'll provide you with our existing Employee Handbook, internal communications regarding employment policies, and any other employment policies that we have in place. The volunteer should expect to spend 5-10 hours on this project. We do have paid access to an Insperity HR platform that has a handbook template all ready, but I need someone to go in and make sure all of the specifics are correct to our company.
