To reach our goal of recruiting mission-driven board members, we are seeking a volunteer to help us craft a comprehensive recruitment plan. Tasks will include:
-Becoming familiar with our mission by attending our two information sessions (30 minutes per) with ancillary research as desired by the volunteer
-Assisting in establishing target Board size and member roles
-Assisting in identifying needs for potential Board members
-Assisting in articulating clear expectations for Board members
-Prospecting to establish which tactics have and have not been successful in the past; researching strategies, including resources such as Board development consultants or organizations
-Overseeing the development of the first draft of an inclusive recruitment strategy that includes clear tactics for reaching candidates representative of the community that we're serving and who meet our current needs
-Finalizing the recruitment strategy by incorporating feedback from relevant team members; overseeing the editing of a final report
At this time, recruiting Board members is a high priority for the growth of this mission. It is envisioned that a rejuvenated Board will help our organization meet its other top priorities (i.e. IT and marketing help). This will, in turn, allow the fulfillment of our number one priority, fundraising.

The project has an endpoint--a written recruitment plan. It is anticipated to last approximately one month. The project is primarily that of guidance.

The lack of a proper Board of Directors is a hindrance to the success of this mission. The presence of 1,000,000+ children raising themselves is an issue that needs to be addressed. A well-functioning Board will allow the children's voices to finally be heard.
We will designate a team member to work with the volunteer. We'll provide relevant access to our stakeholders and a thorough briefing on our mission, vision, and purpose. The volunteer will certainly have access to any campaign materials desired. The recruitment will be conducted by the campaign's other volunteers, including the Director, per the strategy laid out in the plan.

Organization Mission

The Campaign envisions a nation where every child is wanted by at least one family. The Campaign accepts the task of telling the public that this is possible. The Campaign will generate 5,000,000 signatures endorsing this vision. There are 1,000,000+ kids in the U.S. raising themselves. It’s a horrible child-rearing plan with predictable results. A fatal tragedy is that there are more than enough families presently willing and able to raise each one of these children. About half of the kids are in Foster Care, and a large number are in the custody of other child caring systems (juvenile justice, mental health, etc.) Of course, there are many, many children on the streets or couch surfing, or.... what they have in common is that they're on their own. We have credible evidence that there are families available for every one of these children. What is lacking is effective communication and collaboration between the various human services systems involved. The situation will not be resolved until the general public demands that necessary changes be implemented. The Campaign intends to stimulate a national discussion leading to a societal commitment to bring the children home. It's a hidden issue - whose time has come.
